The Math Team meets once a week after school to provide students with an opportunity to explore and develop their math.
As you can see from this video the math team is more than just a bunch of students crunching numbers and solving equations, it becomes an extended family for so many.
Under the tutelage of Mr. Collins (as known as Mets fan “Will from Queens”) and Ms. Randolph, and the supervision of Mr. Hamilton (AP Math Dept.), the members challenge themselves with algebra, geometry and advanced applications of middle school math curriculum. They also take part in team excursions including sporting events, cultural locations and other venues.
Whether it’s a trip, team problem solving challenges, math relays or team/individual competitions the kids build great friendships and networks that last well beyond middle school.
To top it off the eighth graders often take part in an overnight trip where the agenda is more about friendship, fun and lifetime memories[/su_box][/su_row]
